Beautiful Penguen beach

A walk from the house

Cider pulping in the next village

Beautiful white sandy beaches or wonderful countryside – It has it all.
Brittany offers the beauty of Cornwall but with the culture, fine wine and exquisite food of France.
Several white sandy beaches are a short drive away from the house – Erquy, Saint-Cast-le-Guildo & Penguen, offering everything you need for a day on the beach sunbathing, reading, swimming, flying a kite or kicking back with a beer and a snack at one of the beach side cafes.
But, there are several walks directly from the house that take you straight in to the French countryside. You feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, with the peace only broken by the sounds of nature.
…and if you’re lucky, start a walk from the house and you might find a rainbow!
Mussel Farms
For the seafood lovers amongst you, a trip to Saint-Brieuc will have you salivating as you view the mussel fields being readied for harvest. Grown on 8cm long, 12mm thick ropes, these farmed mussels are free from predators and can carry 80kg of delicious meat.
Cider Making
Due to the milder climate, the region of Brittany is not famed for it’s wine, but for its cider. The majority of the country’s cider is produced in Brittany, and if you visit in autumn/winter, you will see many mobile cider lorries arrive in the villages to pulp the apples for the locals.
Medieval Towns & Villages
Brittany is also blessed with several ancient towns including the famous walled, St Malo. Come here for a great walk around the fortification and stunning coastline views, but also for the shops, boutiques and restaurants and cafes. Note: In season, St Malo can be pretty busy. Do also ensure that you visit Dinan and Dinard – both historic towns with amazing architecture and shops.
Wake Boarding
If you like water sports, there is an excellent wake boarding centre just minutes from the house. It is cable based and good for both amateurs and for those that do it more regularly.
“We come to Malabry every year. It’s perfect for sitting back and relaxing at the house – reading a book in the shade or sat around the fire in winter – but there is so much more. We often walk across the fields to the reservoir, visit the beaches or go for lunch at a nearby café or restaurant. But we particularly love French cheese, bread and wine in the garden.”
